Overview: Woodhaven Golf Course at Glade Springs is a 7,122-yard, par-72 mountain course set beside Glade Creek Gorge in southern West Virginia. Tom Clark’s design divides the 18 holes into two distinct loops: one crosses swales with gorge views, while the other follows a steeper valley lined by hardwoods and native rock gardens. The layout is varied without feeling artificial, using the natural difference between gorge edge and wooded valley to give each nine its own identity.
History: Woodhaven was completed in 2010 as the newest of Glade Springs’ three championship courses. The course was planned to complement the older Cobb and Stonehaven layouts rather than repeat them, with returning nines and shelters at the far ends of the property. Clark and Ault Clark & Associates built the routing around the gorge, forest and existing rock features, giving the resort a third style of mountain golf.
Did You Know? The par-4 eighth hole requires a carry over a ravine before turning sharply toward the green. It is a concise example of Woodhaven’s design language, where the gorge and steep valley are not background scenery but active elements in the decision about how to play the hole.
