Overview: Wittelsbacher Golfclub Rohrenfeld-Neuburg occupies a gently rolling 67-hectare property beside Gut Rohrenfeld near Neuburg an der Donau. Joan Dudok van Heel’s routing moves through open parkland and mature woodland, with the old trees providing both the setting and many of the strategic reference points. The course has a spacious, traditional feel: broad fairways invite a confident start, while the approach shots ask players to read the contours and choose their line carefully.
History: The site is closely tied to the Wittelsbach family and Gut Rohrenfeld, where horses for Bavarian electors and kings were once bred. Dudok van Heel created the 18-hole course in the late 1980s; the official course history records the opening in 1989, followed by the clubhouse in 1990. That combination of royal-estate landscape and modern golf has remained central to the club’s identity.
Did You Know? More than two centuries of tree growth surround the fairways. The trees are not simply scenery: their age and placement give the course its sense of scale, frame sightlines and make positional play especially important on the way to the greens.
