Overview: Windswept Dunes is a public Freeport course built across 750 acres of white sand dunes, rolling fairways and large greens. The operator lists six tee boxes and 7,752 yards from the championship tees, with relatively few water hazards.
History: Designer and builder Doug O’Rourke shaped the course around existing dunes and vegetation rather than flattening the property. Its location near Destin, 30A and Panama City Beach makes it a destination course for the northwest Florida coast.
Did You Know? Some dunes rise as high as 20 feet, an unusual source of elevation in a state better known for flat coastal land. Here the sand is part of the playable landscape, not just bunker material.
