Overview: Windsor Park is a public 18-hole municipal course in Durban, positioned beside the Umgeni River and close to the Durban Country Club. Trees and water shape the layout, while the coastal climate keeps the course visually green and gives the river corridor a distinctive place in the round. It is a community course with competitive ambitions, offering a full-length golfing experience within the city rather than a small practice or mashie layout.
History: The course was established in 1933 and has changed substantially over the decades. Earlier club facilities stood behind the 15th green, which at that stage served as the 18th, while a council clubhouse was added in the 1970s and the present club building followed in 1996. The municipal setting is part of the course story, with the layout continuing to serve Durban golfers across generations.
Did You Know? Windsor Park should not be confused with the separate nine-hole mashie course that also appears in municipal documents. The full Windsor Park routing is an 18-hole public course, while the mashie facility is a shorter development course. Keeping those two identities separate is important when reading older tariffs and local listings.
