Overview: Windsor Great Peak of Toya is the golf course attached to The Windsor Hotel Toya, on the high ground above Lake Toya and Uchiura Bay. The resort describes an 18-hole, par-71 layout with a back-tee length of 6,216 yards and a regular-tee length of 5,861 yards. The setting is the central feature: elevated holes open toward the water, while the inland holes use the mountain terrain, changes of direction and uneven lies to make club selection important.
History: The course opened on 25 August 1965 and is credited to Chin Shimizu. Its long life predates the present resort identity, but the current operation makes the course part of a highland hotel destination rather than an isolated local facility. The design remains a compact par-71 test, and the resort continues to operate it as a seasonal course, with the golf calendar shaped by Hokkaido weather.
Did You Know? The course occupies high ground between Lake Toya and Uchiura Bay, so the same round can shift from inland mountain character to open-water scenery. That relationship with the surrounding water is the defining visual fact of Windsor Great Peak of Toya, and it explains why a 6,216-yard par-71 layout can feel much larger than its scorecard suggests.
