Overview: Windsong Farm's South Course in Independence is a modern private layout by John Fought and Tom Lehman. The 18-hole course is framed by open Minnesota space and uses a links-influenced presentation to emphasize ground movement, thoughtful angles, and the changing relationship between fairway and green. At 7,191 yards and par 71, it has the scale for a strong test without relying on narrow corridors or constant visual clutter. The course's appeal comes from the sense that each hole has room to develop its own strategy.
History: The South Course was built in 2002 and opened as Windsong Farm's original championship routing. The club later made substantial course improvements in 2015. Fought's design work at Windsong continued with the North Course, a separate 2025 project, but the target here is the established South Course and its original Fought-Lehman collaboration.
Did You Know? Windsong Farm is now a two-course facility, but its two routings are not interchangeable in the history of the club. The South Course is the original Fought-Lehman design, while the newer North Course is a separate John Fought project that gives the property a distinctly different second chapter.
