Overview: The Links Course at Wild Dunes is a Tom Fazio coastal design on Isle of Palms, where Atlantic wind, native dunes, palms and live-oak corridors shape the round. The layout currently measures 6,503 yards at par 70. Its character is more open than the resort's inland golf, with the shoreline influencing both the views and the way wind changes club selection. Fairways move through a mixture of sandy ground, vegetation and resort-edge landscape, while the closing holes bring the ocean and beach into the strongest focus. It is a course built around exposure, changing conditions and the strategic value of keeping the ball in the right part of the fairway.
History: The Links opened in 1980 as Tom Fazio's first solo design. The original course was longer and played to par 72, but later work adapted the routing to the shoreline and the needs of the resort. The 18th hole has been reshaped through that history, reflecting how a coastal course must respond to a moving beach as well as to changes in playing standards. Wild Dunes now presents the Links alongside the Harbor Course as a 36-hole resort golf destination, with both designs carrying Fazio's name but offering different coastal experiences.
Did You Know? The closing hole has had several identities over time. It was once a par five, later played as a par three during shoreline work, and is now presented as a dramatic finishing hole beside the Atlantic. That history makes the 18th a small record of the coast's influence on the course.
