Overview: The Irish Course at Whistling Straits is a links-style layout featuring tall sand dunes, deep sod-walled bunkers, and windswept fescue grass. The course is situated just inland from the shores of Lake Michigan.
History: Designed by Pete Dye and opened in 2000, the course was built to complement the adjacent Straits layout. Dye moved vast quantities of soil to transform a flat airfield into a dune landscape.
Did You Know? The course contains numerous small ponds and streams that come into play, distinguishing its strategy from the dry, sandy wastes of the Straits Course.
