Overview: Whisper Rock’s Upper Course is a desert layout in North Scottsdale where Tom Fazio used natural rock, washes, and changes in elevation to shape the holes. The course alternates between open desert views and more enclosed corridors, with broad landing areas leading to demanding green approaches.
History: The Upper Course opened in 2005 as Tom Fazio’s contribution to the Whisper Rock complex. It is paired with a separate Lower Course, creating two distinct 18-hole layouts with different architectural authorship and terrain.
Did You Know? Whisper Rock’s two courses have different designers: Tom Fazio designed the Upper Course, while Phil Mickelson and Gary Stephenson designed the Lower Course.
