Overview: The Devil's Claw was the first course at Whirlwind and quickly established the facility as a premier destination in Chandler. Architect Gary Panks crafted a design that features significant elevation changes and deep, stylish bunkering that mimics the natural arroyos of the Sonoran Desert. The course is known for its wide fairways that provide a sense of openness, but the multi-tiered greens and strategically placed desert carries require thoughtful execution to navigate successfully, all while being surrounded by the peaceful, undeveloped landscape of the Gila River reservation.
Did You Know? The name "Devil's Claw" refers to a native desert plant used by the Gila River Indian Community in traditional basket weaving, reflecting the deep cultural connection between the golf facility and the land it occupies.
