Overview: Westlake is a mature Cape Town parkland course beneath the Silvermine range, with mountain views, tree-lined fairways and water features creating a varied round close to the False Bay suburbs. The 18-hole, par-72 layout feels established rather than resort-made: the holes move through a settled landscape, and the best lines are often revealed by the shape of the existing ground rather than by dramatic earthworks.
History: Westlake was established in 1932, with the first nine holes opened that September and a full 18-hole course completed within four years. D. C. Murray is associated with the original design. The club has since become one of the Cape’s most active golf communities, retaining its historical parkland framework while updating the playing surfaces and facilities.
Did You Know? The Silvermine mountains act as a natural compass during a round at Westlake. They are visible from many points on the property, so even when the holes turn through trees and water, the surrounding Cape landscape keeps the course tied to its exact position below the range.
