Overview: Set among the rolling ground and mature trees of Gedney Farms, Westchester Hills Golf Club offers a private parkland course with 18 holes, set among the rolling ground and mature trees of Gedney Farms. Current course data lists par 70 and 6,358 yards from the blue tees. The club describes tree-lined fairways, contoured greens and bunkers that place a premium on positioning. The layout’s proximity to New York City makes it an important part of the Westchester golf landscape, while the private setting keeps the playing experience closely tied to the club community.
History: The club was founded in 1913 as Gedney Farm Country Club, originally serving the nearby resort hotel. The official history credits first professional Peter Clark with the original course and identifies Donald Ross assistance. In 1921 the club purchased the property and adopted the Westchester Hills name. A major Rees Jones renovation debuted in spring 2022, expanding greens, rebuilding bunkers and upgrading irrigation while aiming to retain the historic character. The present course is therefore a dialogue between Clark’s early parkland design and Jones’s modern work.
Did You Know? The 2022 renovation expanded the greens by more than 20,000 square feet and rebuilt the bunkers. Those changes altered the visual framing of the holes while preserving the rolling, tree-lined setting that defines the older course.
