Overview: Westchester Golf Course is an 18-hole public executive layout just north of Los Angeles International Airport. Its official card lists par 64 and 4,364 yards, a scale that makes it a practical option for a shorter round while still requiring accuracy around the greens. The course mixes par threes with a smaller number of par fours and par fives, and the airport setting gives the round a very specific Los Angeles sense of place.
History: Westchester was designed in 1965 and later underwent a significant 2010 renovation. The work added three holes to the back nine and renewed two others after the property had operated for a period as a 15-hole course. The current 18-hole routing is therefore a relatively recent chapter in a facility whose identity has always been linked to accessible public golf near LAX.
Did You Know? The course’s signature hole features a large eucalyptus in the middle of the fairway, reportedly home to a family of hawks. It is a fitting feature for a layout where the player’s challenge is often visual and positional rather than purely long. Westchester also keeps its course and practice areas lit late, an unusual convenience in a dense urban golf market.
