Overview: Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell is a private Robert Trent Jones II design that uses creeks, mature trees, rolling ground and water features to give the holes distinct identities. The course is a full par-72 layout of about 6,907 yards from the black tees, with the strongest strategic questions arriving where a creek or lake changes the preferred angle of attack. Its parkland setting is polished, but the design remains rooted in the site's natural movement and in the demands of precise approach play.
History: Wedgewood opened in 1991 as a private central Ohio club imagined around a championship course and a full club program. The current club continues to identify Robert Trent Jones II with the design, and its hole-by-hole material preserves the original strategic language: the opening hole asks for a demanding approach, while the fourth uses a lake to make a short par three more exacting than its yardage.
Did You Know? Wedgewood has four par fives, including the double-dogleg sixth, where a meandering creek affects both the tee shot and the second shot. That repeated use of the creek creates a different sort of challenge from a single forced carry and shows how the course builds strategy through the movement of water across the property.
