Overview: Warren Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole, par-71 course on a 42-hectare site beside Kranji Reservoir. Nelson & Haworth’s current course record gives 6,814 yards, but the layout plays more deceptively than that number suggests: the mix of long and short par fours, drainage canals, broad fairways and demanding greens continually changes the value of an aggressive line. The course’s planted setting and sand-capped construction make it feel like a carefully maintained garden in the northern Singapore landscape rather than a conventional urban club.
History: Warren began as a British army golf project in central Singapore, growing from four holes to nine and officially opening in 1962. The club later moved to its present Kranji site, where the completed 18-hole course opened in 2000. The current identity is the Kranji Warren routing, distinct from that earlier military course and from other courses carrying the Warren name internationally. Later renovation work has refined the playing surfaces while retaining the reservoir-edge setting and the club’s gardening heritage.
Did You Know? The original Kranji site was a plant nursery, and that history still appears in the names of the holes. Magnolia is the 5th, Camellia the 10th and Redbud the 16th. The naming is more than a decorative theme: it reflects the course’s mature planting and helps explain why Warren is often described as a garden-like course even though water and long approach shots make it a serious championship test.
