Overview: Wannamoisett Country Club occupies a compact, strategic site in Rumford, Rhode Island. The course is associated with Donald Ross's use of shaping, angles, and carefully positioned hazards, while the wooded New England setting gives the layout a distinct local texture.
History: The club was founded in 1898 and its first nine holes were laid out by Willie Campbell in 1899. Donald Ross redesigned the property into an 18-hole course in 1914 and returned in 1926 for the championship layout that forms the basis of the current course.
Did You Know? Wannamoisett is a par-69 course and hosted the 1931 PGA Championship. It also hosts the Northeast Amateur, an annual invitational that has brought leading amateur players to Rumford for decades.
