Overview: Walter Nagorski Golf Course is an Army course at Fort Shafter, with a compact parkland setting and views toward the Honolulu coastline. The property’s military context, mature trees and hilly ground create a very different experience from the flat municipal courses around Ewa. Current Army material presents it as a family-friendly facility with expanded services and public-facing programs.
History: Construction began in 1919, although cultural-history material records that the initial construction phase continued until 1936. Later rehabilitation realigned holes and renewed irrigation, greens, fairways, tees, bunkers, bridges and cart paths. The available sources do not establish a dependable current par or yardage.
Did You Know? The property’s original construction began more than a century ago, making it one of the oldest military golf properties in Hawaii. Its present routing is therefore the result of repeated rehabilitation rather than a single modern build.
