Overview: Waialae Country Club is a private Honolulu course between Maunalua Bay and the lower slopes of the Koʻolau range. Seth Raynor and Charles Banks designed an 18-hole routing that opened in 1927, with sea-level wind, broad fairways and strategic angles shaping the course. The directory record lists 7,040 yards and par 72.
History: The Territorial Hotel Company built Waialae Golf Course as part of its 1927 development program, and the private club formed within the course in 1930. Waialae Country Club was incorporated in 1942 and has since undergone changes, including front-nine reconstruction and tournament-related improvements.
Did You Know? Waialae has hosted the Sony Open in Hawaiʻi for decades. The tournament is not an occasional event at a resort, it is part of the club’s continuing identity and one reason the course remains a regular fixture on the PGA Tour schedule.
