Overview: Wack Wack's East Course is the longer and more tournament-oriented of the club's two 18-hole routings in Mandaluyong, at the heart of Metro Manila. The club lists it at par 72 and 7,222 yards. Small rolling greens, water hazards and long fairways create a traditional parkland test in an intensely urban setting, where the correct angle into the green often matters more than a purely aggressive drive. The eighth and sixteenth are especially notable for the way hazards change the pressure on a round.
History: Wack Wack Golf & Country Club was founded by William J. Shaw in 1930 after a group of golfers had played at earlier venues in Manila. The club's official history says construction of the first 18 holes began in April 1931 under Jim Black's direction, creating the course now known as East. A second 18 was later built on adjoining land and became West. The profile keeps the construction director distinct from a formally documented course architect.
Did You Know? The East Course has an unusually deep Philippine Open connection. Wack Wack's official history says the club hosted more than half of the championship's editions through 1990, and the East hosted the World Cup in 1977. The club also identifies the eighth as a make-or-break par 3, while its tournament history shows how often the routing has been asked to test elite fields.
