Vila Sol - Challenge/Prestige

Overview: Part of the premier 27-hole complex at Vila Sol managed by the Pestana Group, the Challenge/Prestige combination offers a highly strategic and technical round in an inland parkland setting. Designed by Donald Steel, the Challenge loop requires thoughtful positioning around several large lakes, while the Prestige loop—added in 2000—is known for being the tightest and shortest of the three nines. This 18-hole routing is characterized by narrow fairways framed by almond, fig, and cork oak trees, providing a private and peaceful environment focused on precision and short-game skill.

Did You Know? Vila Sol established its championship credentials early, hosting the Portuguese Open in both 1992 and 1993 shortly after opening. The Prestige loop was specifically designed to test the nerves of club golfers, featuring some of the tightest corridors in the Vilamoura area, where even a slightly errant tee shot is often severely punished by the dense surrounding foliage.
