Overview: Vidbynäs North is a woodland course in Nykvarn where pine, rock, heather and moss give the layout a distinctly Scandinavian character. The holes move between enclosed forest corridors and more open ground, with streams and natural edges influencing the safest route. Its par-70 design is not only about length. The course asks players to read the lie, choose a realistic line and control the approach into greens that sit naturally within the terrain. The visual language is rugged, but the playing surfaces are designed to offer several levels of challenge.
History: The North course opened in autumn 2004 and was created by Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt. Vidbynäs developed as a two-course facility, with the North layout giving the property its more wooded and wilderness-oriented identity. The club’s history records a skins game involving Catrin Nilsmark, Nick Faldo and Christofer Hanell around the opening period, a fitting introduction for a course intended to attract high-level play.
Did You Know? Svensk Golf named Vidbynäs North’s eleventh hole among Sweden’s 25 most beautiful holes. The recognition reflects the way rock, forest and open space come together at one point in the routing.
