Overview: Set within the grounds of one of the world's most opulent "Belle Époque" hotels in Northern Portugal, Vidago Palace Golf Course is a historic and atmospheric parkland layout. Originally designed by Mackenzie Ross in 1936 and meticulously expanded to 18 holes by Cameron & Powell in 2010, the course offers a unique contrast between the initial holes set within a centenary park of ancient trees and the latter holes that wind through the Oura Valley. The design features elevated greens, support walls built from local stone, and a serene, forest-heavy environment far removed from the coastal resorts.
Did You Know? The course was redesigned to meet USGA championship standards during its expansion, transforming it into a premier professional venue while preserving its original historic charm. Playing at Vidago Palace feels like stepping back into a grander era of Portuguese history, with several tees offering spectacular views of the iconic pink-washed palace hotel rising above the botanical forest canopy.
