Overview: Victoria Golf Course is an 18-hole public course in Carson, in Los Angeles County’s South Bay. William Bell’s layout is relatively level and broad, with wide fairways, a full set of practice facilities and enough length from the blue tees to produce a genuine par-72 round. The county lists 6,804 yards from the blue markers, while the course’s own material highlights a links-style presentation and greens that have been a central part of its identity.
History: Victoria opened for play in 1966 on a former landfill site, a piece of land that was transformed into a large public golf facility. The course was completely renovated in 2001, continuing Bell’s design lineage while updating playing surfaces and infrastructure. That combination of postwar municipal planning and later renewal gives Victoria a different history from the older private clubs nearby.
Did You Know? Victoria’s original site was a former landfill, and the transformation into a 172-acre golf facility required wide fairways, drainage work and extensive public infrastructure. The result is a course whose level terrain is part of its story rather than an accidental absence of elevation. Its long blue-tee card still asks players to control direction and approach distance. Victoria also operates a night-lighted driving range and practice areas, making it part of the broader public golf network rather than simply a tee-time venue.
