Overview: Stretching along the dramatic, sun-drenched Mediterranean coastline of southern Sicily, the West Course at Verdura Resort is a world-class coastal masterpiece designed by Kyle Phillips. The layout features wide, rolling fairways that play firm and fast, deep sod-walled bunkers, and large, beautifully contoured greens that are highly exposed to the sea breezes. Playing directly alongside the azure waters, the West Course offers a spectacular, links-style challenge that demands creative, low-trajectory shot-making.
History: Opened in 2009 as part of Rocco Forte's luxury resort development, Verdura immediately established itself as one of the premier golf destinations in Southern Europe. In 2018, a severe flood damaged several coastal holes, prompting a comprehensive, state-of-the-art redesign by Phillips that reopened in 2021, enhancing the course's strategic depth and seaside drama.
Did You Know? The course played host to the European Tour's Sicilian Open on multiple occasions, where the world's best professionals had to contend with the relentless coastal winds and the firm, fast links-style turf of the Sicilian shores.
