Overview: Valley of the Moon Club is the West Course at the Santa Rosa facility formerly listed as Oakmont Golf Club. Ted Robinson Sr.’s 18-hole, par-72 routing opened in 1964 and plays about 6,379 yards, using wooded corridors and rolling Sonoma ground for a fuller parkland round than its neighboring Sugarloaf course.
History: The property’s West Course is the older of its two current routings, opening in 1964 under the Ted Robinson Sr. design credit. The East Course followed in 1973 and is now called Sugarloaf. Using the current names keeps the two scorecards, pars and histories separate.
Did You Know? Valley of the Moon is the longer of the two routings at the same Santa Rosa address. The contrast with the par-63 Sugarloaf Course is a reminder that the facility contains two different Robinson-era tests rather than one course split into front and back nines.
