Overview: Located on an island in Lake Tyrifjorden near Oslo, Norway, Tyrifjord Golfklubb is a spectacular 18-hole parkland and woodland course designed by Jan Sederholm. Winding through dense pine forests and directly along the rocky lake shores, the layout features significant elevation changes, narrow fairways, and small green complexes. The course demands accurate ball placement off the tee to avoid the mature trees and the deep, cold waters of the lake.
History: Opened as a 9-hole course in 1994 and expanded into a full 18-hole championship layout in 1996, the course was built to create a highly scenic competitive venue in the Buskerud region. Sederholm carefully routed the holes to maximize the dramatic lakeside topography, establishing a premier destination that regularly hosts Norwegian national championships.
Did You Know? The course is built on Storøya, an island that is a protected nature reserve. Native wildlife, including rare seabirds, red squirrels, and deer, thrives alongside the carefully preserved lakeside holes, offering a true wilderness golfing experience.
