Overview: Twin Hills Golf & Country Club is a private Perry Maxwell design in northeast Oklahoma City. The 18-hole parkland course is built across rolling, heavily wooded ground with a meandering creek, elevation changes and narrow corridors framed by blackjack oaks. Maxwell's undulating greens and natural routing give the course a strategic Golden Age identity, while the surrounding trees and ravines create a much more rugged landscape than its city address might suggest. The layout reaches about 6,905 yards at par 72.
History: A group of investors purchased the quarter-section site in 1923, and Perry Maxwell shaped the original course around the two hills that gave it its name. The Carters completed the early construction and clubhouse, and Twin Hills hosted the Western Amateur in 1934 and the PGA Championship in 1935. After the course changed ownership, Maxwell returned to update key greens and irrigation, reopening the improved layout in 1939. Mark Hayes later redesigned the greens in 2000, and a new clubhouse opened in 2023, the club's centennial year.
Did You Know? Twin Hills hosted the 1935 PGA Championship, where Johnny Revolta won a seven-day match-play event after the qualifying rounds. The course later welcomed the Oklahoma City Open, which Arnold Palmer won in 1959, adding professional-tour history to Maxwell's already influential design legacy.
