Overview: Tsukisappu Golf Club is a 7,005-yard, par-72 woodland course in Ariake, around 40 minutes from central Sapporo. Kokichi Yasuda's design uses a broad natural site framed by pine and birch, with relatively open fairways that still ask for control on the long holes. The official guide shows a one-green layout, and the 18-hole scorecard balances long par fives with several par threes that reward a precise approach rather than a blind swing.
History: The course was established in 1974 and designed by Kokichi Yasuda. The club's own statement of purpose is unusually clear: a golf course should make the most of Hokkaido's nature while avoiding an artificial feel. That philosophy remains visible in the current course guide, where the routing follows the existing landscape and the published holes retain a straightforward, full-length championship shape.
Did You Know? Tsukisappu's official design note says the natural setting was the starting point for the course, not a backdrop added after construction. The scorecard also includes a 550-yard second hole and a 550-yard fourteenth from the back tee, so the course's open look can be deceptive. The real question is whether a player can preserve a useful angle after committing to those long holes.
