Overview: Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles sits on the Rancho Palos Verdes coast above the Pacific. Pete Dye's coastal routing uses wide ocean views, bluff-top holes and strong changes in angle to create a visually exposed public course. The large-scale setting is central to the experience, while the playing test comes from wind, uneven lies and approach precision.
History: The project began as Ocean Trails, with groundbreaking reported in January 1998. After the well-known coastal landslide and changes in ownership, the course was rebuilt and reopened under the Trump National name; the club dates the first hole to 1999 and the current establishment to 2006. The course is commonly listed as opening in 2005.
Did You Know? The course occupies a rare bluff-top site at 1 Ocean Trails Road, where the Pacific is part of the view on many holes. The location is also why the site's engineering and land history are inseparable from the golf course story.
