Overview: True Blue is a public Mike Strantz design in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where broad fairways, sandy waste areas, native vegetation and tidal-creek country create a bold Lowcountry setting. The course uses large-scale landforms and oversized greens to give each hole a distinct visual and strategic problem. Aggressive lines can be rewarded, but the green surrounds leave little room for careless approaches.
History: True Blue opened in 1998 beside Strantz's earlier Caledonia Golf and Fish Club. The course became one of the architect's defining Pawleys Island projects, using the former plantation landscape and coastal ground as a setting for his modern interpretation of strategic golf.
Did You Know? The course is known for its large greens and waste-bunker expanses, but the most important feature is often the ground between tee and green. Strantz's design invites creative recovery and running approaches, so the course can reward imagination as much as aerial distance.
