Overview: The Monument Course at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, is a dramatic and notable desert-style masterpiece designed by the acclaimed team of Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. Winding dynamically through the dramatic granite boulders and towering saguaro cacti of the high Sonoran Desert, this classic course features wide, beautifully contoured fairways and complex green complexes. The layout offers daily-fee players an exceptionally strategic and visually stunning round that serves as the gold standard for desert golf in North America.
History: Opened in 1990, the Monument Course was the original layout at Troon North, establishing the facility as one of the premier public-access golf venues in the world. Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish carefully integrated the rugged desert terrain, utilizing natural washes and massive rock outcrops to define the strategic options off the tee. In 2006, Weiskopf returned to lead a major reconfiguration, swapping several holes with the Pinnacle Course to improve the overall routing and strategic flow of both courses.
Did You Know? The course is named after a massive, signature granite boulder, known as "The Monument",that sits directly in the middle of the par-5 3rd fairway. Players must strategically aim their tee shots to either the left or the right of the massive boulder, which serves as one of the most known and photographed landmarks in desert golf.
