Overview: The Hoot is one of three 18-hole courses at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Caledon. Doug Carrick designed it as a course with sandy waste areas, scrubby pine and a more rugged inland character than the original Heathlands. The current course history describes the Hoot as the property’s wasteland-style layout, with the natural valleys and ridges of former gravel extraction becoming part of the holes. A stable current par and yardage were not found in the reviewed public sources, so those fields remain blank.
History: Hoot opened alongside the North Course in 2001, nearly a decade after Heathlands established Osprey Valley. Carrick returned to the property with a different brief: a parkland course for North and a rougher, sandier course for Hoot. The three-course facility later became TPC Toronto and partnered with Golf Canada. The exact Hoot routing therefore belongs to a 54-hole destination history, but its waste-style identity remains distinct.
Did You Know? Carrick looked to the scrubby pine barrens and waste areas left by gravel extraction when shaping the Hoot. Those remnants became design material rather than construction waste, producing a course that feels more like a sandy inland landscape than a conventional Ontario parkland course. The Hoot’s name is a routing identity, but the pits, ridges and pine are the real story.
