Overview: TPC Southwind in Memphis is a high-level private championship facility and a permanent fixture on the PGA Tour. Designed by Ron Prichard in consultation with Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller, the course is a demanding parkland layout featuring tight fairways, numerous water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. It is known for its rigorous test of ball-striking and its signature finish, featuring several of the most difficult holes in tournament golf.
History: Opened in 1988, Southwind was built to provide a high-level venue for the PGA Tour's long-standing stop in Memphis. It has served as the host of the FedEx St. Jude Championship for decades, witnessing notable performances from the world's best players. The course underwent a major renovation in 2004 to modernize the strategic elements and transition to state-of-the-art turf conditions.
Did You Know? The course features a signature "island green" par-3 at the 11th hole, which is often compared to the known 17th at TPC Sawgrass for its beauty and psychological pressure.
