Overview: Toscana Valley Country Club is an 18-hole par-72 mountain course in the Khao Yai area of Nakhon Ratchasima. The current tourism and course records list 7,007 yards and credit American architect Robert McFarland, with local collaboration from Chanat Ruangkritya. The layout drops through a steep valley beside Khao Yai National Park, using elevated tees, rolling fairways, water carries, deep bunkers and raised greens to create a demanding but visually generous round. The surrounding resort is styled as an Italian hill town, yet the golf course remains grounded in Thai mountain scenery.
History: The course opened in 2009 as part of the Toscana Valley resort and residential development. McFarland’s initial design was developed with substantial local input, and current accounts consistently present the finished layout as a mountain course shaped by the valley rather than a flat imitation of European golf. The resort setting gives the course a distinctive architectural backdrop, but the verified golf identity is the combination of McFarland’s plan, Ruangkritya’s local hand and the Khao Yai landscape.
Did You Know? The course’s visual oddity is the full-size replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa near the 12th green, surrounded by the resort’s Tuscan architecture and lakes. It is easy to remember, but the more important golfing detail is that the surrounding elevation changes are real: the dramatic views are matched by raised greens and approach shots that demand careful distance control.
