Overview: Emina East is the longest of the three 18-hole routings at Tomakomai Golf Resort 72, with a current back-tee total of 7,051 yards and par 72. The official course page describes an athlete-oriented course with many long holes and open views. The surrounding birch woodland gives the broad corridors a distinctly Hokkaido frame, but East is designed for full swings and sustained concentration, especially when the wind or a misplaced drive makes the long approach even longer.
History: Tomakomai Golf Resort 72 opened in July 1974 and grew into a 72-hole complex consisting of the 54-hole Emina Golf Club and the separate Iris Golf Club. Current resort material attributes the layout to Naoto Sugaya. East also has a documented professional history: the official page records the Nikkai Cup Nakamura Torakichi Memorial in 1990 and 1992, together with the HTB Senior Classic in 2004.
Did You Know? The eighteenth is the course's signature closing question. A pond lies in front of the green, and the official description notes that even professionals have struggled there. It is an apt finish for the East routing because the hole turns the course's defining strength, distance, into a final decision about whether to attack or play for a safer angle.
