Overview: Tidewater Golf Club is a coastal South Carolina course in North Myrtle Beach, routed between the Intracoastal Waterway and Cherry Grove Inlet. Ken Tomlinson's design moves through maritime forest, salt marsh and tidal edges, with elevation changes and water views giving the round a character that is unusual for the Grand Strand. The championship markers measure 7,044 yards at par 72. Other tee positions range from 6,771 and 6,323 yards to shorter green and red sets, so the course can be scaled to suit different playing styles. The setting supplies the atmosphere, but the key challenge is choosing when to use the wider corridors and when to favor a safer line around marsh and water.
History: The course opened in 1990 and became known for bringing a more natural, low-country form of golf to the North Myrtle Beach area. Rather than laying out a flat grid of holes, the routing follows the property's wooded and tidal landscape. Official course material continues to highlight Tomlinson's design, the relationship with the inlet and the number of holes that run alongside tidal water. That combination has given Tidewater a lasting identity among the area's resort and daily-play courses.
Did You Know? Nine holes run along the tidal inlet. That unusual relationship with moving water is the reason Tidewater can shift from woodland corridors to open marsh views within the same round, even though the course sits only a short distance from the main Grand Strand resort strip.
