Overview: The Black Course at Tiburón is one of two Greg Norman layouts in Naples, set within a resort landscape that combines broad fairways, water, native vegetation and carefully shaped green complexes. The course plays to par 72 and 6,949 yards from the current directory card. It is a polished tournament-style design, but its best holes are not simply about length: the visual width of the landing areas can invite an aggressive line, while the approach angles reward a player who has chosen the correct side of the fairway. The surrounding Southwest Florida planting gives the course a strong sense of place.
History: Tiburón’s two-course story spans 1998 and 2001: the Gold Course dates from 1998, and the Black Course followed in 2001. Both were designed by Greg Norman, and the club has since become part of the Naples resort landscape associated with The Ritz-Carlton. The property’s golf history also includes Audubon International certification, reflecting the club’s work with the habitat and water systems around the two courses.
Did You Know? Tiburón is the Spanish word for shark, while Greg Norman was known on tour as the Great White Shark. The name therefore connects the club directly to its designer’s playing identity rather than being only a reference to the coastal setting.
