Overview: The Woo Jeong Hills Country Club is a private 18-hole championship course in Cheonan designed by Perry O. Dye. The hillside layout is known for the Dye family’s bold use of bunkers, water, mounding and strategic carries, but its appeal also comes from the way the holes move through a scenic Korean landscape. The current Korea Open course map lists par 71 and 7,361 yards from the tournament markers. With a par 36 outward nine and a par 35 inward nine, the course asks for sustained ball striking, controlled approaches and the discipline to choose the safer side of a hazard when the heroic line is not justified.
History: Woo Jeong Hills opened in 1993 and has hosted the Korea Open since 2004, becoming one of the country’s most recognizable tournament venues. The course is Perry Dye’s first major design in South Korea and has remained closely tied to professional golf. In 2025, Dye Designs Group began a renewal of all 18 greens, focusing on contour, drainage and long-term playability while respecting the original design. The renovation reflects the club’s aim to retain the course’s established identity as it enters a new phase.
Did You Know? The Korea Open map divides the course into an outward par 36 and an inward par 35, a small detail that explains the unusual par 71. The 13th is also singled out in course material as an island hole, one of the clearest examples of the water and target-golf ideas associated with Perry Dye.
