Overview: Twin Warriors Golf Club at Hyatt Tamaya is a high-desert course on Santa Ana Pueblo, routed through grassy knolls, juniper and piñon ridges, dry washes and eroded landforms. Gary Panks’ design keeps the surrounding landscape present throughout the round, with the sacred butte called Tuyuna, or Snakehead, acting as a recurring visual reference. The course has a substantial championship scale, yet its identity is less about manufactured drama than about fitting golf into a culturally important desert setting. Views toward the Sandia Mountains complete the sense of place.
History: Twin Warriors was established in May 2001 as part of the golf and resort development associated with Santa Ana Pueblo and Hyatt Tamaya. Panks designed the 18-hole course around the existing high-desert character and the cultural sites on the property, rather than treating those features as background decoration. Its early years established the course as a major regional tournament venue, and that role has continued through professional and collegiate events.
Did You Know? The official course tour says the layout is routed in and around 20 ancient cultural sites. The fifteenth hole lies beside an approximately 800-year-old site, while the sixteenth drops roughly 100 feet and measures 645 yards from the back set of markers. Those details show how closely the golf holes are tied to the land’s archaeology and topography.
