Overview: The Springs Club is a private 18-hole Desmond Muirhead Signature course in Rancho Mirage. The operator lists par 72 and 6,638 yards, with a 129 slope and 72 rating, and describes a complete practice environment with a range, short-game area and putting green. The course sits in the desert landscape at the foot of the San Jacinto Mountains, but its presentation is deliberately lush and residential. Play is centered on members and club visitors rather than an unrestricted public tee sheet.
History: The Springs community began with developer Edwin Johnsen’s early-1970s vision, and the club’s history records the establishment of The Springs Club on October 7, 1975. Desmond Muirhead designed the original golf course as a central feature of the community. The club has since invested in a major golf and irrigation renovation, with Cary Bickler responsible for the recent work while the course continues to be identified as Muirhead’s signature design.
Did You Know? The Springs keeps its original Muirhead design identity visible while updating greens, bunkers and irrigation. The recent renovation introduced new greens and bunkers together with a Rain Bird IC irrigation system, a modern layer of engineering beneath a course that still frames play with wide desert and mountain views.
