Overview: The Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs is a mountain layout in Daniels, West Virginia, designed by George Cobb. The 7,121-yard, par-72 course combines rolling Appalachian ground with 51 bunkers, eight lakes and more than 200 ft of elevation change. Its strategy comes from the interaction of slopes, water and changing sun angles, so the best line is often determined before the shot is played. The course has a broad resort scale but retains the visual variety of a course shaped around existing mountain land.
History: The Cobb Course dates to 1972 and is associated with George Cobb, the architect whose name it bears. The layout helped establish Glade Springs as a golf destination in southern West Virginia and remains the oldest of the resort’s three 18-hole courses. Over time, the property added Stonehaven and Woodhaven, creating a multi-course resort while keeping Cobb’s original design as its historical anchor.
Did You Know? The finishing sequence includes the 420-yard par-4 sixteenth, followed by two holes that require water to be carried three times. The Cobb Course has also hosted a U.S. Open qualifier, the West Virginia Open and NCAA national championship golf, giving its closing stretch a documented competitive history.
