Overview: The Rawls Course at Texas Tech University is a public 18-hole Tom Doak design in Lubbock. The course transforms flat West Texas agricultural ground into a shaped inland layout with broad fairways, large bunker fields and greens influenced by the region's canyon landscapes.
History: The course officially opened on September 14, 2003, after the former cotton-field site was reshaped across roughly 270 acres. Texas Tech describes Doak's design as a links-influenced response to the West Texas environment.
Did You Know? More than 90 bunkers were part of the original design, giving the course much of its visual structure as well as its strategic vocabulary.
