Overview: The Rambagh Golf Club is an 18-hole Brown course in central Jaipur, beside the Rambagh Palace area and close to the city's main heritage sights. The available course guide lists par 70 and 6,303 yards, while the club describes the routing as a traditional sandy course rather than a lush resort parkland layout. That ground character is a meaningful part of the experience: players encounter the dry, open texture of Jaipur and the historic atmosphere of the Pink City in the same round. Current booking information shows that the club accepts arranged visitor play.
History: Rajmata Gayatri Devi commissioned a golf course on the palace grounds in 1944, creating what the club calls the first golf course in Rajputana. Rambagh was conceived as an 18-hole Brown course with an egalitarian constitution intended to encourage local citizens to take up the sport. The club registered as a society in 1972 and later entered the national professional circuit. Greening began gradually in the early 1990s, while the recent work by Vijit Nandrajog has sought to improve the course without removing the Brown-course character that defines its history.
Did You Know? The club's own history refers to players crossing the sands of Dhoondar before completing a round. That phrase captures why Rambagh is different from Jaipur's heavily irrigated modern developments: the course's identity grew from the local desert landscape, and its playing character still depends on how the ball behaves across dry, sandy ground rather than only on manicured green surfaces.
