Overview: The Preserve Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 resort layout in Moravia, Iowa, set on 850 acres within Honey Creek Resort State Park beside Rathbun Lake. The course uses bentgrass playing surfaces and five sets of tees, with the lake and rolling south-central Iowa landscape forming the setting rather than a built-up resort corridor.
History: The course opened for play in fall 2008 as part of Honey Creek Resort. The Iowa Golf Association lists Kevin Norby and Herfort Norby as the architects and records the course as founded in 2008, while the official course site confirms the fall opening and the resort-state-park setting.
Did You Know? The Preserve received recognition in several 2009 new-course programs, including Golf Digest's Best New Public Courses and Golf Magazine's Best New Courses. It is also the golf component of an Iowa State Park resort with lodging, a marina and other outdoor facilities.
