Overview: The Preserve Golf Club at SaddleBrooke is an 18-hole mountain-desert layout north of Tucson, surrounded by boulders, native vegetation and views toward the Santa Catalina Mountains. The dedicated course operator identifies Terry Doss as designer and lists the championship course at par 71 and 6,540 yards. Tight, tree-lined fairways on the front nine give way to wider corridors through the community, while elevated tees and rocky desert drops add the visual drama. It is a private community course, best understood as part of the SaddleBrooke golf environment rather than a conventional resort stop.
History: The course opened for play in 1997 and has become the signature golf amenity of The Preserve community. Its routing was shaped to fit the natural land, with the surrounding preserve and Catalina views doing much of the visual work. Golf Channel’s earlier feature highlighted the dramatic sixth hole, where an elevated tee crosses a deep desert valley toward a green set in a saddle. The course has retained that combination of residential playability and rugged Tucson scenery through later community growth.
Did You Know? The sixth hole asks players to carry a deep desert valley from an elevated tee. The boulder country around the green is a defining part of the hole’s identity.
