Overview: In St. Augustine, the private 18-hole Palencia Club is routed through oak woodland, marsh, preserves and the Tolomato River environment. Its coastal Florida character comes from both the design and the Intracoastal setting.
History: Palencia's official history says the club opened in 2002 and that Arthur Hills designed the course. The same account describes an environmentally sensitive community with boardwalks, wetlands and an Audubon Sanctuary designation.
Did You Know? The course sits beside the Tolomato River, so the Intracoastal breeze is a documented part of the design challenge rather than just a scenic backdrop.
