Overview: The Palmer Course at The Orchard Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 parkland routing in Dasmariñas, Cavite, southwest of Manila. The current official hole pages publish a combined gold-tee distance of 7,285 yards. Groves of mango trees, deep lakes and large bunkers give the course its visual structure, while the long par 4s and risk-reward par 5s make position important from the first shot. It is a substantial championship course within a larger two-course club.
History: The Orchard's land was a fruit plantation in the 1930s, with mango trees planted by Dean Conrado Benitez and Francisca Tirona-Benitez. Sta. Lucia Realty and its partners began the transformation in 1992, and the club was formally incorporated in 1994 with Palmer and Player courses. The available history establishes the development period but not a precise Palmer routing opening date, so the profile does not invent one.
Did You Know? The Palmer Course hosted the 1995 Johnnie Walker Classic, bringing an international field that included Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Colin Montgomerie, Greg Norman and Seve Ballesteros to Cavite. The event is more than a line in the club's history: it demonstrates how the mango-tree parkland and water-led strategy were already being used as a serious tournament setting soon after the property was developed.
