Overview: The Oakcreek Country Club is Sedona’s original 18-hole golf course, set among the red-rock formations of the Village of Oak Creek. Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the layout, which the current club dates to 1968. It plays to par 72 and 6,824 yards from the black tees. Tree-lined doglegs, elevated greens, three lakes and the red-rock skyline create a strong sense of place, while the routing leaves room for recovery instead of turning every missed shot into a lost ball. Oakcreek is a natural fit for a Sedona itinerary because the scenery is part of the round, not simply something seen on the drive to the course.
History: Oakcreek’s grand opening featured professionals Miller Barber and Bob Rosburg, beginning a long tournament tradition that has included the Sedona Open and Arizona Golf Association events. The Robert Trent Jones family connection gives the course a classic design language, with shaped fairways, strategic bunkers and greens that reward thoughtful positioning. The property has remained a cornerstone of Sedona golf while later courses arrived in the surrounding red-rock country.
Did You Know? Oakcreek’s first nine holes were constructed before the full 18-hole course was completed. The result is a historic layout with several water holes, including a finish at the lake by the 18th green.
