Overview: The North Country Golf Club presents a rare links-style playing experience in the rolling hills of Hokkaido. Supervised by professional golfer Isao Aoki, the layout features a relatively flat terrain with minimal elevation changes, relying instead on heavy winds, tall fescue grasses, and strategic water hazards to challenge players. The course is noted for its open vistas and excellent conditioning.
History: Opened in 1990, the course was designed to host major professional tournaments, a role it continues to play as the home of the Sega Sammy Cup. It was one of the earliest courses in northern Japan to feature all-bentgrass turf, setting a new standard for tournament preparation in the region.
Did You Know? Aoki designed the routing with a maximum elevation change of only five meters across the entire property. Despite this flat profile, the course defends itself through its strategic bunkering and the prevailing winds that sweep across the open landscape.
