Overview: The Links Course at The National sits in the rolling countryside at Bara, east of Malmö. Kyle Phillips shaped the layout as a modern links-inspired course with wide playing corridors, sandy hazards and broad green complexes that invite several routes to the target. The holes move through open meadow and low, windswept ground, so the course can feel very different depending on the day’s conditions. Lines over the larger hazards are often tempting, but the safer angle usually leaves the better approach. The course’s scale and firm visual language make it an unmistakable part of Sweden’s modern championship landscape.
History: The Links course opened in 2009 as part of the PGA of Sweden National development, now known as The National. The project gave Sweden a high-profile modern venue outside Malmö and established a second identity alongside the club’s Lakes course. The layout has continued to be presented as Kyle Phillips’ original Links design, with the official course page retaining the same architect and hole-by-hole par framework.
Did You Know? The course is organised as two returning nines, so the final holes bring the player back toward the central club facilities rather than finishing in a remote corner of the property. That routing makes the changing wind especially noticeable late in the round.
